Implant treatment introduction
Dental implants are small root-sized metal screws, which can be permanently fixed into patients jaw's to replace missing teeth. Any number of teeth can be replaced from a single front tooth or back tooth, up to a complete replacement of all the teeth in the upper of lower jaws. Once placed, implant retained teeth are strong and firm and can be chewed on normally. They will look, feel and function like normal teeth. Once successfully fused into the bone, implants will normally be permanent. The first implants were placed in 1965 and are still in place. The success rate worldwide is very high with millions of implants being placed each year. Implants now offer a safe, effective and long lasting way of replacing missing teeth.
